Strung seats and a bronze button

Stringing is a classic technique: cord wound back and forth across a frame to make a seat that gives slightly under weight. Inoda+Sveje use a balanced weave on the seat and on the top of the ottoman bench, so the pattern stays even from edge to edge and has the look of handwork. Polyester cord suits outdoor use because it takes up little water and dries soon after rain. On teak, the pale ecru cord shows every line of the weave, while dark brown reads quieter.

The cushions are optional. Without them, the strung seat and back are the finished surface, which is practical near a pool where people sit down wet. With them, soft pads upholstered in fabrics from Minotti's 2022 outdoor textile collection rest on the cord, and a small teak tab, finished like the frame, keeps each cushion from sliding. That kind of fix matters in wind, when loose cushions tend to wander across a terrace and end up on the lawn.

The one ornament is a joint. Where the frame meets the rear legs, the connection is marked by a button varnished in a bronze color, the only decoration on the wood. Natural teak weathers to silver gray if left alone and returns to warm brown with oil.
