Minotti Patio Teak outdoor sofa

A teak platform on bronze feet

Patio started with an aluminum base. The teak edition swaps that for a platform of solid wood, thin in profile but strong, and holds it up on short aluminum feet so the sofa appears to hover a little above the deck. Teak copes well with rain and sun, and left unoiled it fades to silver gray over time. Next to other teak outdoor furniture Minotti makes, such as Florida or Fynn, the wood reads as one family.

What carries over is the back. It is a vertical panel woven in ecru rope with a geometric pattern, wrapping around the seat while leaving openings in the weave, so the view beyond stays in sight. Feet and back joints are die-cast aluminum in a bronze finish that suits both the wood and the metal base. Some seats can take a natural teak tray, grooved to drain water.

Because the teak and aluminum versions share their joints and backs, a project can mix them. Set a Patio Teak three-seater along the house wall and add aluminum-based ottomans or benches around it. The system works on a small metropolitan terrace and on a long pool deck alike. A fitted cover between seasons keeps the wood clean and the rope free of leaves and grit.
