Minotti Andrée outdoor dining table

Minotti Andrée is a family of outdoor tables by Hannes Peer, clad on every face in glazed ceramic tile. It covers a rectangular dining table on two upright legs and low coffee and side tables on bronze-painted aluminum feet. Peer took his cue from Milanese architecture of the 1970s, and the glaze colors follow that decade's palette.

Every face tiled, every joint grouted.

Tile from seventies milan

Andrée started as an indoor coffee table and moved outside because ceramic tile handles weather so well. Every side is covered, and the joints are grouted the way a floor or a pool edge would be, which is exactly what makes it suit a terrace. Glazed tile takes sun and rain without fuss, wipes clean and never needs oiling. The glaze varies slightly from tile to tile, so no two tables look quite the same up close.

The dining version is built from one material: a long rectangular top resting on two vertical legs, all of it tiled. From the side it reads as a clean geometric frame, and the single color lets it sit in a private garden or a hotel restaurant without fighting the architecture around it. Among Minotti dining tables built for the outdoors, this one relies on surface and color more than on structure, so it pairs well with chairs that have a light frame.

The low tables come with several top sizes and stand on bronze-painted aluminum feet. There is also a prism version with a dark brown painted aluminum top in place of tile. Set in front of an outdoor sofa, two or three Andrée tables of different sizes can be grouped into one low surface, with the glazes picked to echo cushions, planters or the paving underfoot.

Hannes Peer based Andrée on Milanese buildings of the 1970s. The idea is direct: take a material normally fixed to walls and floors and turn it into a movable object. For an architect working on a courtyard or a rooftop, that makes the tables easy to tie into tiled paving or a pool surround. Glaze colors change over time, so ask which ones are current before settling on a scheme.
