Minotti Daylight modular outdoor sofa

An alcove on teak feet

GamFratesi started from the idea of an alcove, a sheltered nook for spending a whole day outside. The backrests and armrests curve around the seat and spread outward like a fan, which gives every element a protected shape. Each piece stands on four round teak feet, so a single sofa or armchair can sit alone in the middle of a terrace or join others in a larger group. Two seat depths are offered.

Beyond the modular sofa, the family lists a round armchair, a loveseat, a sun lounger and a daybed. The sun lounger reclines and rolls on castors, which makes it easy to follow or escape the sun over an afternoon. The daybed shares the upholstered body and teak feet of the sofa, so a pool deck and a lounge corner can carry the same design from one end of the garden to the other.

The Daylight tables use the same round teak legs and set a top of Ceppo di Gré into a natural teak frame. Ceppo di Gré is a natural stone typical of Lombard buildings, and the top is chosen without visible grain so its neutral shade stays calm. Bronze-colored aluminum details trim the legs. Stone tops are heavy and stay put in wind, and teak left unoiled weathers to silver gray.

GamFratesi aimed for outdoor seating with the same comfort as an indoor sofa, soft enough for a long nap and shaped to hold the body. The teak feet link Daylight to other outdoor furniture Minotti makes in the same wood, so it can join an existing terrace without a full redesign. For a hotel or a large private garden, the loungers and sofas give one family for both sun and shade.
