Minotti Halley outdoor armchair and daybed
Minotti Halley brings Rodolfo Dordoni's indoor armchair of the same name outside. The outdoor family, introduced in 2017, has an armchair, a sofa, a pouf and a daybed. Each metal frame is sandblasted, powder coated and then wrapped completely in polypropylene cord that looks like woven wicker. Padded cushions sit inside, with covers that come off.

Color matched frame and cord
Halley is built in layers. The metal frame is sandblasted clean, then given an epoxy powder coat whose color is picked to match the cord that goes over it. That cord is a polypropylene fiber made to resemble hand-woven wicker, and it covers the structure fully. Synthetic cord like this does not rot or soak up water the way natural cane does, so the pieces can stay on an open terrace through a wet summer.
The cord comes in sandy neutrals, charcoal and a few stronger shades such as sunflower and rust. Where the cord is dark, the frame underneath is finished in pewter; otherwise it follows the cord color. Cushions are filled with high resilience polyurethane foam and covered in water-resistant fiber and fabric. Every upholstery cover can be removed for washing, and there is a wide range of outdoor fabrics to choose from.
The daybed carries the most engineering. A mechanism developed by Minotti Studio lets its back tilt into four reclining positions. Pair it with the pouf as a side perch, and for a lounge setting put the sofa opposite two armchairs. The slim proportions suit city terraces and hotel projects as well as private gardens, and Halley mixes easily with Minotti outdoor furniture from other families.
